EEK.. hair in a bath! For the majority of people staying in a hotel this would be a sign of lack of cleanliness and attention to detail and could well lead to a complaint. Regardless of the level of the hotel, the highest standard of cleanliness is always required and especially in bathrooms where bacteria thrive.
Starting with a look at different bathroom styles and fittings this module moves on to think about cleaning equipment including colour coded equipment, what different cleaning agents do, safety symbols and the importance of using the correct one and stresses the importance of not mixing products. The techniques of cleaning showers, baths and hand basins is explored in detail and introduces the top down method and being systematic especially when mopping floors and then applies these techniques to public area cloakroom areas,

This module is designed for operational housekeeping staff in hotels and guesthouses and can be used with new staff to support internal on job training, to set a benchmark of Housekeeping standards for the whole team, to support the development of knowledge behind the practice and can be part of training schemes. Cleaning Hotel Bathrooms will contribute to the off job training hours for team members undertaking the Housekeeping pathway in the Hospitality Team Member apprenticeship and as part of our complete Professional Housekeeping programme develops the base knowledge for other formal learning and qualifications.
The end quiz ensures that key points are both remembered and understood and using 30 questions covers key aspects of the module content and objectives. The pass mark is 80% and on successful completion the certificate endorsed by the Institute of Hospitality is automatically available to be downloaded. Questions are in the same style as within the learning part of the module, ie: drag and drop, single choice and multiple choice and there is an opportunity to review the key points before starting the quiz. If needed, incorrect answers can be reviewed before retaking the quiz as many times as needed.
