To be Safety Aware in Hospitality, employers must ensure all new team members are trained when they start employment even if they have completed previous training. The responsibility lies with the current employer. This course covers all key aspects of safety in hospitality and can be used as a benchmark from which businesses can add their specific procedures during job training.
This highly interactive programme includes videos, questions and activities aligned to hospitality and case studies to illustrate examples along with full colour images. Each module aims to ensure team members understand why the procedures are important to follow and is set against both UK and International Health and Safety legislation.
Outlines of each module can be found by clicking on each title in the Health and Safety category (please see the right hand sidebar)
Having all our Safety Aware modules under one programme saves time when businesses want a full induction programme as it saves buying and allocating a number of different modules. Team members will also access a full Safety Aware certificate that may be required for further advanced trainimg.
This module is fully interactive using a range of videos, questions and activities aligned to hospitality to ensure learners develop an understanding of why it is important to be aware in the workplace why procedures and standards are used. Case studies and full colour images illustrate examples of standards.

This Safety Aware in Hospitality programme is designed for all team members including supervisory levels in hospitality. It is best placed as an induction programme but could be used for a specific training need. The programme will contribute to the off job training hours for team members undertaking a Level 2 Hospitality Team Member or Chef apprenticeship and would generally meet most requirements at Level 2
Each module has its own end quiz to ensure that key points are both remembered and understood. There are between 22 – 36 questions depending on the module. The pass mark for each module is 80% The modules are set in a learning pathway and each module must be successfully passed in order to unlock the next module. Questions are in the same style as within the learning part of the module, ie: drag and drop, single choice and multiple choice and there is an opportunity to review the key points before starting the quiz. If needed, incorrect answers can be reviewed before retaking the quiz as many times as needed. On successful completion of the final module in the pathway, Working Safely with Covid-19 and Infections, the full Safety Aware in Hospitality certificate endorsed by the Institute of Hospitality is automatically available to be downloaded.
To further develop the professional learning process each module has one of our unique action plans that learners can download from within the module and complete. A series of questions asks learners to apply the information in the module to their workplace to identify the specific procedures they should follow and identify areas where they need further information or training. Managers may discuss the action plans with individuals and organise additional information and training that learners may have identified they need. The action plans may be used as evidence of learning in other formal learning or qualifications that learners may undertake. In addition, there are links to websites and documents that can be used to research further learning.
The Institute of Hospitality endorses all our training modules and programmes.
