MIA – AIM Accreditation

Having worked with the MIA and the AIM accreditation since the accreditation pilot in 2007, when the MIA decided to update the AIM accreditation initially in 2020, we were contacted at Direction Training and have been updating ever since! In 2021, the MIA launched Touchstone, it’s unique benchmarking platform and we were able to support with the development of a bespoke module introducing people to the platform.

Project development

Developing criteria for an accreditation requires thorough research - there is no room to get it wrong! Thought had to be given to the range of businesses that the accreditation is used by, from small conference centres and hotels with 1 or 2 rooms to international conference and event venues and ensure that the wording of criteria could apply to everyone.

AIM Secure and AIM Small Venues

Shortly after AIM entry level was initially updated, Covid-19 struck and the accreditation was updated to become AIM Secure, the only specific meetings Covid-19 accreditation. In 2021, in recognition that smaller venues are likely to have reduced facilities, the MIA decided to adapt AIM Entry for an AIM Small Venues accreditation.

AIM Excellence

In 2023, the MIA decided to relaunch what had been AIM Higher as AIM Excellence. In doing so, we worked on a complete overhaul of criteria that reflected the modern event world along with a simpler assessment process

Touchstone

Whilst Touchstone was still in development, we worked closely with the MIA and the developers to design a bespoke module that would support people finding their way round the system. Using screenshots and interactive arrows we worked through the key actions that people would take. The module was turned into a video and placed on the MIA website.
