Officially, at 17 I was a room attendant in a small country house hotel in Surrey, but unofficially, I’d been donning team t-shirts and getting stuck in at private events Direction ran since I was 13!
Ooo, that’s a tough one! I have two: seeing the “lightbulb moment” when something clicks for a learner and then watching them pass those skills on to someone else and absolutely smash it. There’s nothing stronger in the learning world.
Strong black coffee — and plenty of it. And maybe a sneaky biscuit if I’m on my feet all day… biscuits are definitely my Achilles heel.
It was such a simple thing, but to me, it was intuitive and truly breathtaking. Late one night, I ordered an Uber from a hotel. The concierge quietly confirmed the details, had my bag loaded into the car, the door held open, and my ride verified before I even realised what was happening — and it wasn’t even their preferred black cab service. I blinked, and I was safely sorted.
I’m an Italophile through and through, so probably sat on the shore of Lake Como with beautiful views, sunshine, good wine and great food.
